Significant Words - CoG

Significant Words - Session Three This is the third and final session conducted for the younger D-Group, a group of lively junior secondary college students, from the Ballarat Family Church of Christ. The first significant word was Profile and the second was Commitment. In this session I explored the word CoG. Again I explained my purpose was to commend to them Jesus and encourage them to follow him each day. Introduction Today's significant word is CoG Review However before we explore today's significant word did anyone complete a profile on someone else? Yes, we had several who prepared a profile. I gave them an opportunity to read the profiles, without the name of the person, and the group tried to guess who. Some of the items listed were easy clues identifying the person in question. Secondly, did anyone bring along a Bible? Again a few brought their Bibles and using the store of Bibles readily available everyone had a Bible to use. Introduction continued... This week we ar

Significant Words - Session Two This was the second in a series of three sessions conducted for the younger D-Group, a group of lively junior secondary college students, from the Ballarat Family Church of Christ. The first significant word was Profile. In this session I explored the word Commitment. Again I explained my purpose was to commend to them Jesus and encourage them to follow him each day. Set in Dublin in the 1990's, The Commitments follows the story of a group of determined Irish teenagers who are energised by their natural talents and zeal fro 'soul' music. Dynamic Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins), an enthusiastic would-be talent promoter with an incomparable desire to introduce soul music into the small community of Barrytown, enlists the assistance of his melodically adept friends, Outspan (Glen Hansard) and Derek (Kenneth mcCluskey), and the three embark on a journey to develop The Commitments, The world's hardest working band. Significant Words – Session 1 This posting is the first in a series of three sessions conducted for the younger D-Group, a lively bunch of junior secondary college-aged young people, at the Ballarat Family Church of Christ on Sunday 12, 19 and 26 October 2008 . I explained my intent was to commend Jesus to them and encourage them to follow Him each day. I also explained that over the course of the next three weeks I wanted to examine three words, Profile , Commitment , and CoG . Profiler is an American crime drama that initially aired on television from the mid 90’s to 2000. The series follows the exploits of Dr. Samantha “Sam” Waters, played by Ally Walker, a forensic psychologist working for the Violent Crimes Task Force based in Atlanta, Georgia. Sam is the ”profiler”; she has a unique gift to “see” through the eyes of others giving her a special insight into the working of criminal minds. Your Invitation to Live V

Your Invitation to LIVE through Difficult Times In Romans 8:28 the Apostle Paul writes, “ And we KNOW that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purposes.” The Apostle Paul is not speaking from purely head knowledge rather this is a declaration of fact, firsthand experience time and time again. Allow me to bring you several stories about living through difficult times. 1. Victor Frankl Frankl was a determinist raised in the tradition of Freudian psychology, which postulates that whatever happens to you as a child shapes your character and personality and basically governs your whole life. The limits and parameters of your life are set, and, basically you can’t do much about it. Frankl was also a psychiatrist and a Jew. He was imprisoned in the death camps of Nazi Germany , where he experienced things that were repugnant to our sense of decency that we shudder to even repeat them. His parents, his brother
