Phillip Island - August 2008

Image
Phillip Island – Augu st 2008 We departed Ballarat for Geelong. Following lunch in Geelong we travelled to Queenscliff staying overnight at the Kia Ora B&B. Next morning we drove the car onto the ferry sailing for Sorrento before journeying to Flinders, the most southerly town on the Mornington Peninsula. The eastern cliff tops provide spectacular views across Western Port Bay to French Island, The Nobbies and Seal Rocks on Phillip Island. The western cliff tops look out on the rugged coastline of Bass Strait. Departing Flinders we travelled around Western Port Bay to San Remo the entrance to Phillip Island. The Silverwater Resort proved to be excellent base for touring Phillip Island and the Bass Strait coastline to the east taking in Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and Inverloch. Phillip Island has many spectacular features for the tourist, Cowes, Cape Woolamai, the Grand Prix Circuit, the little penguins, Rhyll, Churchill Island and The Nobbies
